Get Continuous Rewards After Passing Away: Things that Benefit the Dead

Everything in this world has an end. Death is an undeniable fact. This is the temporary world and we have to return to the Almighty Allah someday.  As mentioned in Holy Quran: “Every soul shall taste death” as we see in our life many of our relatives and friends passed away in front of us to realize us that we should also pass away someday and we must be preparing for that. We must do good deeds and perform our duties, offer prayers so that we will get rewards and blessings from the Almighty Allah. Below mentioned are some of the deeds that we should do to get rewards even after passing away.

When an individual dies, the deeds come to an end except for the thing that is Sadaqah Jariyah as taught to us by Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).  There are many actions and deeds that one can do to get the rewards even after death. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (the deceased)”. (Sahih Muslim)

First Sadaqah Jariyah: This is any good deed done from which people continue to benefit despite the demise of the person who originated it. For example, the establishment of a madrassa or masjid from which people are rightly guided will be Sadaqah Jariyah for the person who established it. Having a well dug or a shade or fruit tree planted will also accrue good deeds for a person, as long as the well or tree benefits people.

Second Sadaqah Jariyah, knowledge which is beneficial means knowledge imparted verbally or by any other means through which people become better Muslims. So, whoever spread the knowledge this act as a Sadaqah Jariyah for him/her as long as people get benefit from this knowledge, the teacher will receive the reward for it.

The third source of reward is having virtuous descendants. Training of children on the right lines and then making Dua for them to be among the righteous is essential so that after a person’s death they continue to pray for him or her. The prayer of righteous children in favor of parents is very useful.

Allah Almighty guarantees to record these continuous acts of charity in the following verse: “Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have accounted for in a clear register.” (Quran, 36:12)

There is a number of things you can do to that act as Sadaqah Jariyah for you after your death. Dig a well and allows the people to take water from that free of cost. Teach someone The Holy Quran, when he/she recites the Holy book of Almighty Allah you will get rewards. Built a mosque, and place the Holy Quran in the mosque so people offer prayers and recite Holy Quran. Plant a tree, people will get benefits from its shade as well as fruits. Built house for wayfarers, Spend money in charity for Muslims. So as a Muslim We must follow the teaching of Islam. Pray for those who passed away. May Almighty Allah grant them a higher rank in the Jannah. Ameen!
