In this post I will discuss about What is Comedy of Humour.
It is a form of drama, which became fashionable at the end of 16th century and early in the 17th century. It presents humorouscharacters whose actions are governed by a particular passion,
disposition or humour. It is a psychological interpretation of character and personality. Ben Jonson appears to be the first person to elaborate the idea of comedy of humour. Unlike Shakespeare's romantic comedy, comedy of humour is satirical in nature. It gives a picture of life. Hence, characters and incidents are given allegorical
interpretation. It is didactic in
purpose.
